Europe’s biggest shopping street has been closed off both ways from Park Street to Orchard Street for over three hours today (August 22) after a crash at 1.47am.

Medics treated a man at the scene for head and chest injuries.

He was then taken to hospital as a priority, but his condition is unknown at this time.

With the closure in place, eight bus routes have been diverted.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.47pm today (22 August) to reports of a road traffic collision on Oxford Street, W1.

“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and a clinical team manager.

“We treated a man for head and chest injuries and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
