A police presence is expected to remain in a Bristol neighbourhood today (Saturday, August 23) after gunshots were fired yesterday. An investigation is underway after a firearm was discharged at a property in Donegal Road, in Knowle West, in the early hours of Friday morning.
The incident happened between 2.30am and 3am yesterday, damaging a house. Avon and Somerset Police issued a statement shortly before 6pm yesterday evening, and reported that threats were also made towards a resident.
Nobody was injured in the incident and forensic investigations began at the scene yesterday. No arrests had been made at the time of the police statement yesterday evening.
The force confirmed that there is not believed to be a wider risk to the public. However, a police presence remained on the street last night.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Police are investigating threats towards a householder and damage to a property in Knowle West.
“The damage was caused when a firearm was discharged at the house in Donegal Road between 2.30am and 3am today, Friday, August 22.
“Thankfully no one was harmed.
“We’re taking the incident seriously, forensic investigations are underway, and a police presence remains while initial enquiries continue.
“There is not believed to be any wider risk to the public, but officers will be carrying out uniformed patrols of the area and are happy to speak to anyone with concerns.
