For the upcoming 2025/26 academic year, a total of five secondary schools across Dudley were forced to turn children away due to having fewer spaces than first-choice applicants for the next academic year.
According to the data released on the Government website, the most oversubscribed school for this academic year was Summerhill School in Kingswinford, which had almost 33 per cent of applicants who listed it as their top choice school turned down.
It was put as a first-choice preference by 304 applicants despite having just 204 places available.
Bishop Milner Catholic College in Dudley and Old Swinford Hospital in Stourbridge were also popular choices, oversubscribed by 93 and 63 students respectively.
The Dormston School in Sedgley also had to turn down almost 10 per cent of applicants who listed it as their first-choice school, as well as The Earls School in Halesowen, which refused just under eight per cent of applicants.
