A Royal Mail van and private hire car have collided in Edinburgh.

The incident took place in the capital at around 11am, and saw police called to the scene on Corstorphine Road. It took place near the Pinkhill Junction.

An image from the scene shows the van in the side of the car, with the front of the Royal Mail vehicle smashed up. Police can be seen carrying out enquiries.

A Royal Mail spokesperson confirmed they are launching an investigation into how the incident happened, and are helping police with enquiries, reports Edinburgh Live.

The condition of those involved is not currently known. Officers blocked off one side of the road as they attended to the incident.

One local resident shared on X: “Another accident at the Pinkhill Corstorphine Road junction.”

A Royal Mail spokesperson commented: “We can confirm a Royal Mail van was involved in an incident this morning on Corstorphine Road.

“We are pleased to say there were no injuries reported. We have launched an investigation into how this happened and are helping the police with their enquiries.”

Police Scotland has also been approached for comment.
