A fire on in North Wales could be seen for miles and led to more than 70 calls to the fire service. Emergency services were called to the blaze on Mynydd Bodafon in Llanerchymedd on the Isle of Anglesey at 8.39pm on Friday, August 22.
There were over 20 firefighters dealing with the incident at its height. Relief crews then took over. A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said crews from Amlwch, Benllech, Llangefni and Menai Bridge, and a wildfire unit from Caernarfon, were sent, reports North Wales Live.
The flames were visible from a long way away as the island is so flat. In total about 70 people rang 999 to report the fire, said the spokesperson.
In a statement the fire service said last night: “Please stay away from the area and do not park on roads near the incident so fire crews can deal with the fire.
“Roads in the area will be closed.” People were urged not to ring 999 as NWFRS were already aware of the blaze.
