Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is now available for pre-order ahead of its 14th November release date, which means you’d expect it to be top of the PS Store sales charts, right? Wrong.
While it’s certainly not doing terribly by any stretch of the imagination, its Vault Edition – which includes Early Access to the game’s open beta from 2nd October – is currently sixth on the US pre-order charts, behind various permutations of NBA 2K26, EA Sports FC 26, Battlefield 6, and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

Perhaps it’s expected to see games like Metal Gear Solid and NBA 2K26 above it because they’re coming out soon, but the cheaper Cross-Gen Bundle is also being beaten out by various versions of Borderlands 4, Gears of War Reloaded, and Ghost of Yotei. It’s a similar story in the UK.
According to Charlie Intel, this is one of the first Call of Duty games not to top the PS Store pre-order charts immediately after announcement. But it’s difficult to ascertain from this data whether Black Ops 7 is underperforming or if the competition is simply too strong.

It was claimed recently that Activision felt Call of Duty was too big to fail. While we’d still fully expect the game to do exceptionally well, we reckon it’s inevitable that Battlefield 6 is going to steal some players away this year.
Perception of Call of Duty does feel like it’s at an all-time low. The series has lost a lot of its identity by adding guest characters like Beavis & Butthead, which don’t really fit thematically at all. Moreover, the franchise just feels tired these days – it’ll be interesting to see if the publisher can turn public opinion around.
