We might be in the depths of summer right now, but it won’t be long before the throes of winter come around. One way to stave off those winter blues when the time comes is to have something to look forward to, and booking a theatre show to see at the end of February could be just the bit of excitement you need.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert is heading to Manchester’s Palace Theatre at the end of February 2026 for just over a week, promising to lighten the spirits of anyone who attends. Based on the 1994 movie of the same name, this musical show first debuted in 2006 and has since risen to huge popularity among theatre goers.

The plot synopsis explains that the show explores themes of identity, diversity and self acceptance as it follows three friends who go on a road trip across the Australian Outback. A description reads: “It’s a true celebration of the power of love, friendship, unity, being unapologetically yourself and embracing others for who they are.”

It shares the same producer as shows such as Hairspray, The Full Monty, and Shrek, which each boast their own impressive pedigrees in the world of theatre. It’s jam packed with classic tunes, such as Hot Stuff, It’s Raining Men, I Will Survive and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

Main character Bernadette will be played by Adèle Anderson, who’s known for her part in the cabaret group Fascinating Aida. The rest of the cast is yet to be announced.
