Between 12pm and 3pm on Wednesday, August 20 a safe in a house in Holly Street was accessed and the cash was taken.
An investigation into the theft is now underway with police appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Detectives are keen to trace a grey 4×4 that was seen in the area at the time.
Detective Constable Leona Meek said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible, and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or has any information that could assist to contact us.
“We would also ask anyone with dash-cam or private CCTV to check their footage from Wednesday and get in touch if they have captured anything that could assist our investigation.”
