Danny and Michael Philippou’s 2025 hit horror film Bring Her Back is tearing its way through the competition. Better yet, it looks like the A24 film will be doing just that for a long time to come.
Per Flix Patrol, Bring Her Back has reached the twentieth spot on the list of top movies available via video-on-demand on iTunes. While that still places it well below the number one movie on the list, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Bring Her Back doesn’t show any signs of slowing down as it continues to gain momentum and overtake competition like How to Train Your Dragon.
Directed by Danny and Michael Philippou from a screenplay the former co-wrote alongside Bill Hinzman, Bring Her Back stars a tight ensemble cast led by Billy Barratt as Andy, a seventeen-year-old whose life is upended when he and his step-sister Piper, portrayed by Sora Wong, find their father dead in the shower. After being moved in with the eccentric Laura and her mute foster son Oliver, portrayed by Sally Hawkins and Jonah Wren Phillips, Andy is subjected to wanton emotional abuse, all while a sinister plot begins to unfold right before him. Bring Her Back’s core cast is rounded out by Sally-Anne Upton, Stephen Phillips, and Mischa Heywood in the roles of social worker Wendy, Andy and Piper’s late father, Phil, and Laura’s deceased daughter, Cathy.
Bring Her Back arrived in theaters on May 29 and was immediately lauded by fans and critics alike. The film garnered heaps of praise for its pacing, brutal storytelling, and stunning performances, earning it an 89% “Certified Fresh” rating via review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as averaged across nearly 250 verified critical reviews. Although Bring Her Back wasn’t nearly the box office success that its predecessor, Talk to Me, was during its own run in theaters, the film still managed to bring in more than $32 million against a $15 million budget.

Back in 2023, it was confirmed that a sequel to Danny and Michael Philippou’s breakout hit Talk to Me was officially in development at A24. Although no firm details regarding the film’s plot or casting have been released in the time since, fans are still waiting in anticipation of any updates they might receive. This comes as no surprise considering the fact that Talk to Me made more than $92 million against a $4.5 million budget, all while making a major impact during awards season.
That same year, a series of clips filmed as part of a Talk to Me prequel project were filmed and posted to the internet, only to be almost immediately pulled for “violence and bullying” due to the fact that they were filmed as if they were from cell phone videos, leading the YouTube algorithm to flag the clips as inappropriate content.
Bring Her Back is currently available via video-on-demand on iTunes.
