Manchester United target Senne Lammens missed Royal Antwerp’s 2-1 Pro League win over KV Mechelen on Sunday afternoon amid continued transfer speculation over his future.

It’s understood that the goalkeeper is closing in on becoming Ruben Amorim’s fifth summer arrival. United have not ruled out signing a new goalkeeper before the window closes on September 1 but they are not planning on adding an undisputed number one.

After being linked with Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, United look set to secure Lammens’ services. The Manchester Evening News understands that Onana “will 100% stay” at the club despite the possibility of new competition.

It’s also believed that United are highly unlikely to accommodate four senior goalkeepers meaning the sale of Altay Bayindir is a possibility. The Turkey international has started the first two games of the season but could still depart before the window closes.

After playing the first four games of Antwerp’s season, conceding just one goal, Lammens was excluded from the squad on Sunday. Yannick Thoelen played in his place but Lammens was spotted at the Bosuli Stadium watching his teammates.

The 23-year-old was pictured in the stands to watch the 2-1 win as negotiations continue over his proposed £17m move to Old Trafford.

In London, Amorim opted to stick with Bayindir against Fulham with Onana returning to the squad with a place on the bench. “It’s the same kind of decision a manager has to do. I try to see the game, I try to imagine the next game. I try to put the best players to win the game. So I did that.”
