On the outside, Glasgow is a place with a dichotomy which many find perplexing; it’s rough around the edges but still beats with the most charismatic heart, with locals that would do anything for you but also bring their A-game to any fight.

I speak as one of those proud locals, by the way. Without sounding like the token William Wallace of the group, I truly do love my home city and all the eccentricities that come with it. Nowhere else in the world can you indulge in the delights of a roll and square sausage while walking through the town and listening to traditional pipers blasting in your ears. Sometimes it’s a bit of a fever dream, but it’s the best kind you can possibly have.

What you may not realise unless you come here and truly stalk the streets is that aside from its vibrant people, food, and music, is that Glasgow is also the proud home of a bustling street art scene, beginning with a few paintings scrawled on a few walls and having now turned into an entire tourist attraction mural trail, taking you through every corner of the place.

With over 30 pieces of art now lining the streets of the city, it’s a great way to not only get your steps in for the day, but also soak up an environment and culture in a way you might have never seen before. To that end, while I’d love to take you through the entire trail, we’d be here forever, so instead, here are my top five picks of murals you should take in if you ever find yourself in Glasgow.
