It’s been six months since Andrew Garfield’s episode of Chicken Shop Date aired, and people can’t seem to get over him and host Amelia Dimoldenberg’s chemistry. I mean, I get it — after two years of red carpet run-ins, they flirted and bantered for 11 minutes straight while eating chicken, titillating the masses and likely inspiring countless fanfics. We haven’t seen much of the pair since then, and now, Dimoldenberg is finally addressing their relationship rumors.
“We’re friends,” Dimoldenberg told the Sunday Times, setting the record straight. “I saw him at the Oscars and he’s a great guy, a great person. We’ve got such a great dynamic.” Sure, we knew this — Garfield has been linked to actress Monica Barbaro since earlier this year — but Garfield’s episode of Chicken Shop Date was a masterclass in chemistry, so I understand the obsession with their lore. And even though Dimoldenberg has chemistry with many, many people (Harris Dickinson! Billie Eilish!) she tells the Times that she’s happily single.
“I’ve got my whole life to be settling down with someone,” she said. “My life is very fast-paced. I’m going traveling, I’m working away, I’m doing all these different things. I feel like I’m really glad to be single at this moment.” If she were to settle down, though, she’d love to be with someone who’s “kind, thoughtful, intelligent,” self-confident, and funny — but she’s not in a rush to find the one. “I definitely want to create space in my life to meet someone but, at the same time, I don’t want it to be the focus of everything,” she said.
Makes sense. I still want Garfield to get back on Chicken Shop Date, though … Maybe next time he’s single.
