Colin McKay appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court today in connection with alleged robbery and attack at a USave store on Hawthorn Street, Glasgow.

A man has appeared at court charged with assault and robbery following an incident at a Glasgow corner shop, where a shop worker was allegedly attacked.

The alleged incident occurred at around 9pm on Saturday August 16 at the USave store on Hawthorn Street in the Springburn area of the city.

On Sunday, Police Scotland confirmed they had charged a 31-year-old man in connection.

Colin McKay, of Glasgow, has appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday. He was charged with assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement, permanent impairment and robbery.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody. He is set to appear back in the dock in the next eight days.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland previously said: “A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery at a shop in Glasgow.

“Around 9.05pm on Saturday, 16 August, 2025 we received a report of an assault and robbery at a premises in Hawthorn Street.

“A 24-year-old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

“The 31-year-old man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, 25 August, 2025.”
