Officers have raced to Harlaw reservoir after a concern for a person was reported to Police Scotland.
Officers were assisted by the Coastguard and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) just off of Harlaw Road in Balerno shortly before 5pm on Monday, August 25.
They remain at the reservoir.

Locals reported seeing a heavy presence around the dam at the reservoir and SFRS confirmed they have deployed two water rescue team along with two appliances.
Around 20 firefighters are understood to be responding to the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 16.55pm on Monday, 25 August, 2025 police received a call regarding a concern for person in the Harlaw Reservoir, Harlaw Road, Balerno.
“Police, SFRS and Coastguard are in attendance.”

A spokesperson for the SFRS said: “We remain in attendance at Harlaw reservoir. Two appliances and two water rescue teams are at the scene.
“We received a call at 16.59pm to assist Police Scotland.”
