A couple said the people of Liverpool have rallied around to help find their cat who’s been missing for more than 100 days. Amber Dawn and her partner Kyle Ebdon’s cat Hazel went missing from the Wavertree area on Thursday, May 22 at around 1.20pm.
The indoor cat bolted out the front door after being startled by workmen and has not come home since. Amber, 27, said neighbours and the local community “has come together in an extraordinary way” to help bring her home.
People have been searching for Hazel while out and about, shared tips online and provided resources for Amber and Kyle. Speaking to the ECHO Amber said: “Hazel is not just a cat – she was abandoned in a field as a kitten and rescued alongside her sister, Maple.
“The two have never spent a night apart until now. Hazel has a family waiting desperately for her return, and Maple in particular has been devastated, crying at the door every day for her missing sister.”
Amber added how the support to help find Hazel, who is a rescue cat, has been “overwhelming” and the couple said they are grateful for the people who have helped.
A Facebook post shared by Kyle, also 27, received more than 600 comments and more than 550 shares.
Amber added: “For over three months, we have searched relentlessly: leaflets, posters, drones, cameras, traps, and daily social media appeals. The support has been overwhelming – Hazel’s story has been widely shared on local Facebook groups such as ScousePets, and just last night a new Reddit post reached over 6,000 people in less than 12 hours.
“The original Facebook post has also gained huge attention [second link below]. We have also offered a £200 reward for her safe return.”

Hazel, who is microchipped and spayed, was last seen by the duck pond on Enterprise Way in Wavertree. The only confirmed sighting the couple have was on a neighbour’s Ring doorbell on June 3 at 1am. Hazel was heading towards Tiverton Street, but after that she vanished.
The couple said they post everyday online, check with vets and rescues, still hang clothes out, scatter hoover contents by the door, walk the streets with food and torches in efforts to bring home as Amber and Kyle “refuse to give up on her”.
Amber said Hazel’s sister Maple is struggling without her sister. They were rescued together after being abandoned in a field and “have never spent a night apart until now”.
She added: “Maple cries at the door every day waiting for Hazel and cannot bear to let us out of her sight. Watching her grieve has been unbearable.
“Please, if you see a cat who looks like Hazel, take a photo or video and contact us straight away. If someone has taken her in, please know she is deeply loved and belongs with her family. She is microchipped to us.”
If you see Hazel, you can contact Kyle via this Facebook post here. A £200 reward is being offered.
