NHS Lanarkshire confirmed that the incident affected University Hospital Hairmyres in East Kilbride and that power has been restored.
The health board has apologised to patients and the public over the disruption and given an update to those seeking care.

Louise Long, Chief Executive of NHS Lanarkshire, said: “Main power was restored to University Hospital Hairmyres earlier today. We have continued to provide emergency care at the hospital throughout the day.
“We would like to apologise to all patients whose planned procedures and appointments are being disrupted today and tomorrow.
“All affected patients are being contacted, and postponed care will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
“Additional work is continuing to improve the resilience of the power supply to allow all services to return to normal at the hospital.
“Thank you to our staff for their resilience and professionalism in dealing with the situation.”

In a statement posted to social media, NHS Lanarkshire echoed their chief’s remarks, they said: “Main power was restored to University Hospital Hairmyres earlier today.
“Emergency care has continued throughout.
“We apologise to all patients whose care is being disrupted today and tomorrow.
“This will be rescheduled ASAP. Work is ongoing to improve the hospital power supply.”
