Sheffield Wednesday are still grappling with the fallout from a chaotic summer, with supporters maintaining pressure on Dejphon Chansiri to step away from the club. While fan protests continue, there has been little in the way of concrete updates regarding possible takeover interest.
The Owls do now have some flexibility in the transfer market, with free agents and loan deals permitted, but ongoing cash flow problems remain a major obstacle. At this stage in the window, that does not leave many options for Wednesday.

The latest name linked with a move to the Owls is a shock and not one that will likely fill Wednesday fans with excitement. According to Football League World, Wrexham forward Ollie Palmer is on the radar of Sheffield Wednesday.
Palmer is yet to feature for Wrexham in the Championship this season. However, he has played in the Carabao Cup, scoring twice in the victory over Hull City.
Sheffield Wednesday are in need of players before the window closes. They have picked up just one point in their opening three games of the year, ironically coming last time out against Palmer’s Wrexham.
Bristol Rovers, Crawley Town, Cambridge United and Salford City have all also been named as keen. MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon have also been credited with interest.
Ollie Palmer to finally get a shot at the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday?
Palmer first entered the EFL in 2013 with Mansfield Town, before making the move to League Two side Leyton Orient. He went on to enjoy seven seasons at League One level, featuring for Luton Town, Lincoln City, Crawley Town, as well as former clubs Mansfield and Orient, before AFC Wimbledon secured the services of the 6’5″ target man.

Though his spell at Wimbledon lasted just a season and a half, Palmer has often spoken fondly of his time there, remarks that only add weight to rumours of a possible return. His switch to the National League with Wrexham was a shock, considering his ability.
Since then, he has racked up nearly 150 appearances in a Wrexham shirt across three divisions. However, throughout his career, he has never played in the Championship; perhaps with SWFC, he could get his chance.

What does the rest of the window look like for Sheffield Wednesday?
After a busy start to the window, off-field troubles have led to a quiet summer. So many sales occurred at the beginning of the summer, so not many assets are left.
Pierce Charles’ injury likely means he will be staying for now too. Any links to the club must be taken with a pinch of salt too.
Many free agents will be linked with SWFC over the next few days. Whether many of them have any substance is a different matter.
