A “war council” of top tier crime lords working for Dubai Mr Big Ross McGill have been unmasked by underworld sources.

The hoods, who are behind a series of firebombing and shooting attacks across Scotland this year, are instructing McGill’s now notorious Tamo Junto (TMJ) gang to target key associates of his cocaine kingpin enemy Mark Richardson after he ripped him off in a £500k drug deal.

The five key players orchestrating the violence alongside McGill can now be named as drug gang leader James ‘The Don’ White, 48, his key lieutenant, Paul ‘The Captain’ Fleming, 41, convicted gunman Barry Harvey, 36, hitman Sean Orman, 44, and machete murder bid thug George ‘Dode’ Baigrie, 42.

One source told the Record the crew of mobsters are using dirty money, power and influence to keep terrifying turf wars in the country going for as long as they see fit.

They said: “These guys are all really serious players. Between them, they have enough contacts and cash to keep the war going until they are ready to stop.

“They’re all in the jail, but that doesn’t matter. They have hundreds of foot soldiers they can call upon to carry out their dirty work and those foot soldiers are in TMJ.”

James ‘The Don’ White is believed to have introduced McGill to cocaine cartels in South America after he took over the crime empire of gangster brothers Barry and James Gillespie when the pair vanished in Brazil in 2019. He was extradited from Brazil to Scotland and jailed in 2023 for directing a violent, international drug gang.

His key lieutenant Paul ‘The Captain’ Fleming was also jailed in 2023 after being extradited from Spain.

He admitted running a major cocaine importation and distribution racket, using a fake solar panels company to flood the country with narcotics, and laundering dirty money by converting it into designer watches.

Enforcer Barry Harvey, part of a supergang linked to the Gillespie brothers, is serving a life sentence for gunning down gym boss Gary More, 32, on the doorstep of his home in Airdrie, Lanarkshire on September 6 2018.

All three signed up to support McGill when he launched his war back in March.

Sean Orman was convicted of the murder of Trainspotting 2 star Brad Welsh in 2021 . During his trial, it was claimed by a witness that Dode Baigrie paid Orman £10k to gun the former boxing champ down on his doorstep.

Orman and Baigrie are said to have later joined McGill’s top team over their mutual hatred for the Richardson clan, with Baigrie currently serving 15 years in for the attempted murder of Mark’s younger brother Dale in a brutal machete attack at a Tesco supermarket in 2021.

The group have instructed TMJ to unleash terror on Scotland’s streets in a number of co-ordinated attacks since the spring. Their targets have been members of Mark Richardson‘s family and his associates, including the Glasgow-based Daniel clan.

The gang have boasted of their violent antics online by sharing videos of masked thugs throwing petrol bombs through the windows of the properties and setting cars alight with music and sinister spoken warnings.

Another source revealed that the gang are able to operate with military precision, because well-connected “information associates” of the war council feed McGill’s men with intelligence about their targets.

They said: “The associates are sending information to the Don and the other guys in the crew about where the movements of the people they want to attack. Then they deal with their problems by using TMJ.”

The source claims the associates are the Daniel family’s main rival Steven Lyons, 44, gangland kingpin Jamie Stevenson, 60, Robert ‘Birdman’ O’Hara, 48, Stephen ‘Jimmy’ Jamieson, 42, and David ‘Murph’ Hough, 43.

Lyons fled to Dubai after gunmen burst into his uncle’s garage in Glasgow, shot him in the leg and killed his cousin, David, in 2006.

Stevenson is serving 16 years in jail after he was convicted last year for orchestrating a plot to smuggle cocaine worth £100m from Ecuador in boxes of bananas.

Birdman O’Hara was given a life sentence in 2005 after being convicted of murder, gun and drugs charges after he stabbed rival Paul McDowall to death just yards from his home in the city’s Possilpark.

Jamieson was jailed for eight years in 2009 for his role in a £9 million drugs gang and has been living in Dubai since his release.

Hough was jailed for six years in 2021 after being convicted for his part in a drugs gang that operated a street valium factory capable of making 100,000 pills an hour.

The source continued: “McGill recruited the Lyons crew earlier this year and they were only to happy to oblige because they hate the Daniel clan.

“Jamieson is McGill’s pal in Dubai, so he was an easy signing. Others, like Stevenson and Birdman, are close pals with Barry Harvey and waded in to help him out in any way they will.

“Hough also worked for Birdman and he was brought in for the extensive contact book of hoods he built up in his valium operation.” too and can be called upon.

The source added that the assassinations of key Lyons family lieutenants Eddie Lyons jnr and Ross Monaghan in Fuengirola on May 31 has fanned the flames of a bloody feud that shows no signs of stopping.

He said: “This war involves almost every gangster to ever come out of Scotland. More or less all the big players are involved in some way and where it ends now is anyone’s guess.

“At one point, McGill might have settled for being paid back for the stolen cocaine, but he has forged new friendships and loyalties with those who have backed him and what happened to Eddie and Ross in Spain has pushed this beyond the point of no return.”

Police Scotland’s Operation Portaledge investigation into the gang war has led to over 50 people being arrested for a variety of offences.
