Oscar-winning director Jordan Peele impressed viewers and critics alike with his 2022 sci-fi epic Nope, and it’s now streaming for free.

Channel 4’s on-demand service has added the star-studded film to its library, and it’s perfect for mid-week viewing.

Written and directed by Peele, the thriller is best enjoyed when you go in blind, but we will tease new viewers with a basic synopsis. It follows siblings OJ and Emerald Haywood, who run a family horse ranch in California.

When a mysterious flying object appears in the sky above their ranch, the duo try to capture it on video, while a local businessman tries to profit from the phenomenon.

Academy Award winner Daniel Kaluuya leads the cast as OJ, with Disney star Keke Palmer as his sister, Emerald. The cast also features The Walking Dead alum Steven Yeun in the role of Ricky ‘Jupe’ Park, a money-hungry entrepreneur.

As with all of Peele’s works, Nope packs layered social commentary. Namely, the horror primarily delves into the dangerous lengths people will go to for profit. Moviegoers will likely uncover even more hidden commentary in this two-hour epic.

Upon its debut, the thriller bagged an impressive 83% Rotten Tomatoes rating. The critics’ consensus raved: “Admirable for its originality and ambition even when its reach exceeds its grasp, Nope adds Spielbergian spectacle to Jordan Peele’s growing arsenal.”

Moviegoers were equally captivated, with one review praising: “One of the best sci fi movies ever made,” while another declared: “Without a doubt the best horror movie I’ve ever seen.”
