Sports Mole brings you the latest transfer news and rumours, including Sheffield United signing an England international and Aston Villa rejecting an offer for Emiliano Buendia.
Sheffield United have bolstered their squad with the signing of former West Ham United forward Danny Ings.
Sitting at the bottom of the Championship table, the Blades are in need of a boost both on and off the pitch ahead of the September 1 deadline.
With just one goal being scored during three consecutive defeats, acquiring a new frontman has been a priority, and that void has now been filled with the signing of Ings.
The 33-year-old has been available on a free transfer after his exit from West Ham United, where he only contributed five goals and five assists from 69 appearances.
Consequently, offers from Premier League teams have been in short supply, resulting in the former England international dropping into the Championship for the first time since 2013-14.
Ings has penned a one-year contract and will come into contention for Saturday’s encounter at the home of Middlesbrough.
Villa reject offer for Buendia
Meanwhile, Aston Villa have reportedly rejected a loan offer from Stuttgart for Emiliano Buendia.
The 28-year-old is back in the West Midlands after only accumulating 321 minutes of football across 15 appearances on loan at Bayer Leverkusen during the second half of last season.
His career has stalled since suffering the serious knee injury that kept him sidelined for 2023-24, and it remains to be seen whether the Argentine will stay at Villa as a backup member of Unai Emery‘s squad.
According to The Athletic, Villa are currently rejecting offers to allow the playmaker to depart the club on loan for 2025-26.
Stuttgart are also said to have wanted a buy option for Buendia, but it appears that Villa are retaining their stance for the time being.
With two years left on Buendia’s contract, Villa could plausibly decide to keep him given the hectic schedule that the Europa League will bring.
Another defender ready to leave Bournemouth
Bournemouth are reportedly ready to allow another defender in Chris Mepham depart the Vitality Stadium.
Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi have brought in excess of £100m through their sales to Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.
Although Mepham is further down the pecking order at the Cherries, the Wales international is allegedly being allowed to sign for West Bromwich Albion.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says on X that a fee has been agreed between the two clubs and personal terms have been finalised.
Mepham will leave Bournemouth having made 121 appearances since 2018-19, but the 27-year-old spent the last campaign on loan at Sunderland who he helped win promotion to the Premier League.
