Confused?
Well, reading between the lines of a Netmarble blog post, it sounds like the developer is reworking the original smartphone release to repurpose it as a console game. That means there’ll be no gacha or loot boxes, and everything in the release will be unlockable through gameplay.
The blog post is pretty long, but it delves into a few headline facts: the controls have been reworked to make for a more satisfying and tactile experience on the DualSense, the visuals have been upgraded to take advantage of Sony’s system, and new features and mechanics have been introduced in order to support the transition from phones to console.
Development producer Kim Gwang Hoon explained:
“What we would like to emphasise first and foremost is that Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive is a full-package game. Rather than relying on randomness when recruiting Hunters or crafting weapons, we’ve designed the game to reward effort and strategy, allowing you to feel a true sense of achievement. All the Hunters, Sung Jinwoo and their weapons, and the joy of progression can be earned and enjoyed entirely through in-game play.”
The title will launch on PC from 17th November for $39.99, but the PS5 version will follow in 2026.
