Ashford, 20, has been on the books at Cardiff City for his whole career to date. He is under contract with the Welsh side until the summer of 2027.
In this latest update by Witcoop on X, the Bluebirds insist he is not for sale amid attention from the Blades. It remains to be seen at this stage whether the South Yorkshire club will lodge an official offer.
He penned a new deal at the Cardiff City Stadium back in January. At the time, he told their official club website: “This season I’ve just been playing and enjoying my football, so the success this year for me has been going out there and playing with a smile on my face.
“To make that step into the First Team is the goal, and I’ve really enjoyed a new and different challenge with them. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season and seeing what the rest of it brings. It’s been a really good season and I hope to carry it on.”

What now for Sheffield United target Cian Ashford?
Sheffield United have made a poor start to this season and could do with some reinforcements. Time will tell whether SUFC end up lodging an offer for Ashford over the coming days.
The Blades have lost their first three league fixtures on the spin. They have been beaten by Bristol City, Swansea City and Millwall, and were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Birmingham City.
Ruben Selles, who was appointed as their replacement for Chris Wilder earlier this summer, is under pressure already to start getting results. They are back in action this weekend with a tough away trip to the Riverside Stadium to play Middlesbrough.
