The local practice has won approval for 999 student beds alongside 713 flats for rent across six blocks reaching up to 20 storeys high on the former College Street Goods Yard close to Parsonage Square in the Scottish city.
Stallan-Brand was originally given planning permission for 727 rental homes and 99 student flats on the triangular 3ha site in 2018 for developer Get Living.
The firm returned to planners three years later for permission to build 823 build-to-rent homes and 687 student homes alongside shops, cafés and restaurant and leisure uses.
That was also granted, but Get Living last summer sold the site to Galliard Apsley Partnership, which retained the practice for a third attempt.
Stallan-Brand director Nick Ecob hailed the green light for the latest iteration of the scheme, now known as College Gardens.
‘We are incredibly excited to have reached this significant project milestone, which will unlock the delivery of a key regeneration project in the city,’ he said.
‘The project will have a transformative impact on the eastern edge of the city centre, delivering new homes, green spaces and improved connectivity while making a positive contribution to wider local economy.
‘The project is the result of a highly collaborative design process, working closely with the client, Glasgow City Council, and a mix of local stakeholders and community groups. We now look forward to taking the proposals forward towards delivery.’
Planning documents said the latest scheme would ‘create a high-quality residential neighbourhood supported by a mix of new green spaces, amenity provision and ground floor commercial uses.
‘The development will create a vibrant urban quarter that is well integrated with its wider urban context, unlocking new pedestrian and cycle connections to the east of the city centre.
‘At its core, the College Gardens vision will deliver an intergenerational community, combining build-to-rent and student provision within a cohesive neighbourhood that services the needs of a diverse community.’
