Strictly Come Dancing star Ross King has returned home to Glasgow to film for the BBC show ahead of its launch next month. The 63-year-old took to Instagram yesterday to film his day out with pit stops in many iconic locations across the city as he wrote: “What a treat being back in Glasgow! #youllneverknowtillyougiveitago #strictly.”

The ITV presenter arrived in Scotland’s biggest city on Thursday by train and kick-started his trip by paying a visit to Glasgow University. Standing outside the prestigious university, Ross humorously told the camera: “Here you go, this is my Glasgow home. It’s changed a little bit since I last saw it, I’ve still got some work to do to it. Should be finished in another 100 years.”

He laughed as he told his followers: “This is actually Glasgow University. This is the closest I’ve ever come to going to Glasgow University but I’m here for the day and we’re filming for Strictly.” His other stops included a trip to Greggs for a ‘roll and slice’ and a sausage roll as he joked: “As you can see I am taking this training malarkey very seriously, on my walk, but still with a roll and slice.”

While out on a run, Ross jogged past his old tennis club in Broomhill and showed his followers the barber shop called Hely where he has been getting his hair cut since he was a young boy.

He finished the video with some views of the River Clyde and the Waverley paddle steamer which King used to perform gigs on.

Scottish fans were delighted with the post as one wrote: “This is brilliant Ross!! All the best places.”

Another chimed in: “Looks great there Ross, will be watching you on strictly you will be amazing.”

Lorraine Kelly also left a sweet comment as she penned: “Love you”, alongside a love heart emoji.

It comes as KIng announced a potential diary clash with career commitments after he confirmed on the Lorraine show on Thursday that he is returning to the panto and is set for a “very busy pre Christmas time”.

Ross will star alongside Rylan Clark, who recently made headlines after his furious migrant rant on ITV’s This Morning, in a production of Cinderella in Southend.

However, the show starts its run on Saturday, December 13, while Strictly’s final stages are still in full flow.

Ross revealed his career announcement on the daytime show while chatting to stand in host Ranvir Singh, who has also previously competed for the glitterball trophy.

The Scots presenter proudly said: “I am delighted to say Mr Michael West End Harrison has invited me to tread the boards.

“I will be in Cinderella the pantomime and returning as Buttons at the wonderful Cliff’s Pavilion in Southend.”

King is set to make his Strictly debut next month when the BBC show returns for its 23rd season on September 20.
