Teen band aKadem to release debut single
Teen band aKadem release their debut single this September after being spotted by veteran producer, Mike McEvoy, at the Sound Clash battle of the bands at Olby’s in Margate last summer.
The single, Hurricane, was engineered by Eli Thompson at Olby’s Creative Hub and produced by Mike and marks the beginning of what promises to be a thrilling rise.
To celebrate the release, aKadem will perform at grassroots hotspot, Ramsgate Music Hall on 26 September, then take to the stage for their first London show at the legendary Dublin Castle in Camden Town on 2nd October.
Support at the Dublin Castle comes in the shape of Sven Stears, English National slam poet champion, folk-punk duo, the Resurrectionists, and indie-pop singer-songwriter, Max Runham.
The band is made up of Brooke (Faversham) on vocals, Ethan (Faversham) lead guitar, Beth (Canterbury) bass guitar, Rhythm Guitarist Zac (Ramsgate) and drummer Aston (Ramsgate).
All 19 years old, they combine ferocious riffs, youthful energy, and a wide palette of influences – from Foo Fighters and Fontaines D.C. to Blur, Lola Young, and Jimi Hendrix.
Their debut single Hurricane is released on independent label, Rezzonator Music on 26 September.
Mike, from Rezzonator Music, said: “Now and again a band truly stops you in your tracks. I was blown away hearing the energy, musicality and songwriting skills that naturally radiate from this incredibly talented band. #
“It’s a pleasure to mentor and produce aKadem, and I’m very excited to see what the future holds for them.”
Brooke added: “We’re a young band, but we’re old school. Not moody and emo, but vintage – classic rockers.”
Mike is a producer, writer, musician and director of Rezzonator Music. His credits span Ian Dury, Scritti Politti, Soul2Soul, Steve Winwood, Paul Oakenfold and many more.
