Lucasfilm has just announced the full cast and release date for the new Star Wars movie, officially titled Star Wars: Starfighter.
Joining the previously announced Ryan Gosling as the lead star, as well as House of the Dragon’s Matt Smith and Frankenstein’s Mia Goth as villains, the cast has added Amy Adams and Rebel Ridge star Aaron Pierre.
Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Flynn Gray and The Gentlemen’s Daniel Ings round up the line-up for the upcoming film, helmed by Deadpool and Wolverine’s Shawn Levy.

Described as a standalone adventure with an “entirely original story”, Starfighter is set in a period of time “never before explored” in the Star Wars franchise.

“Star Wars shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever. To join this storytelling galaxy with such brilliant collaborators onscreen and off, is the thrill of a lifetime.”

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Starfighter takes place approximately five years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, released in 2019. Most details about the script, penned by Jonathan Tropper, are still under wraps.
As the new movie starts filming soon, the sci-fi franchise is gearing up for the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu next year.
The film will see Pedro Pascal reprise his role as Din Djarin from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, with Sigourney Weaver and The Bear star Jeremy Allen White co-starring.
Star Wars: Starfighter will be released on 28 May, 2027.
