The cast of the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter continues to grow, and a new rumor suggests that a big actor could be coming out of retirement to appear in the movie.
What actor is rumored to be in Star Wars: Starfighter?
According to a new post on Patreon from insider Daniel Richtman, Eva Mendes — Ryan Gosling’s partner and a former actress — is set to appear in Starfighter as Gosling’s wife in the movie. Nothing is known about her role in the movie at this time, but should she join the cast, it would be a big move.
Throughout the 2000s, Mendes was a prolific actress. Throughout her career, she starred in a number of big films, including 2001’s Training Day, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Hitch, Ghost Rider, We Own the Night, The Other Guys, and more.
Mendes retired from the film industry in 2014, a decision she said in 2022 was partially due to being tired of having to fight for good roles that weren’t geared just to Latina actresses. Her last role came in 2014’s Lost River. The superstar began dating Gosling in 2011, and while it’s unconfirmed if the pair are married, they are still together and have two daughters.
Alongside Gosling (who stars in the film), Star Wars: Starfighter’s cast is set to be a star-studded one. The movie will also feature Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Amy Adams, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, and Daniel Ings.
Star Wars: Starfighter will take place approximately five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and will be a standalone project according to Shawn Levy, who is attached to direct.
Star Wars: Starfighter will be released in United States theaters on May 28, 2027, from Lucasfilm. The only other Star Wars movie with a theatrical release date at this time is The Mandalorian and Grogu, which arrives about a year earlier, on May 22, 2026.
