Leeds United could finally be about to get their hands on Gustavo Hamer ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

The Whites have had a hugely busy summer after their promotion to the Premier League, and they will still be hopeful of adding the finishing touches to their squad in the coming days.

Hamer is a long-standing target for Leeds, who have shown an interest in signing the Sheffield United star on several occasions in the last few seasons.

Daniel Farke and Co. have been unsuccessful in their previous attempts to land the midfielder, but things could be about to change.

Leeds could have the chance to sign Hamer on a loan deal with an obligation to buy in the final days of the window, with Sheffield United not ruling out a sale.

It could cost them an eventual fee in the region of £15-20million to secure his signature, and that possibility could be about to become reality.

A deal to take Hamer to Elland Road is “just about done,” according to reputable Sheffield United podcaster Blades Ramble, via his X account.

He noted that he has received that information from “two very good places,” and adds that all that remains is for the final details to be ironed out between the clubs.

The Blades content creator is known for honest and well-informed reporting through his Patreon account, and he also has just under 10,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel.

He won an award at the Football Content Awards in 2023 and is a reliable source for all things Sheffield United.

According to his information, the Whites could be a matter of days away from nailing down one of their most highly sought targets of recent years.

Gustavo Hamer would add to Leeds’ midfield

Hamer’s signing would be a big statement for Leeds, as he has arguably been the Championship’s standout player in the last few campaigns.

The Dutchman is a prolific creator in the second tier, and also showed huge signs of promise during his sole Premier League campaign with the South Yorkshire outfit back in 2023/24.

He notched 10 goal contributions from midfield for the Blades’ relegated side that year, and Leeds clearly have every faith that he could produce even more in their colours.

Farke’s midfield has bags of energy and industry at the moment, but it is arguably lacking a dash of silky creativity.

That is something that Hamer could bring in abundance and as a result, he would be a hugely exciting signing.
