There’s some exciting news coming to Glasgow’s high street. The city is about to become home to a popular Japanese fashion brand – and we know the opening date.
Uniqlo has confirmed that its first ever store in the city, which will be located on the busy Argyle Street, will officially open to customers on Thursday, October 2, making it the 22nd UK store for the apparel brand.
It marks the second Uniqlo store in Scotland, with the Tokyo-founded firm sharing that its new Glasgow store is “a significant step forward in the company’s continued investment in the Scottish market.”
The Glasgow store is set to span 1,100 sq. metres across two floors, offering fans of the brand the opportunity to shop its full range of LifeWear for men, women, babies and children.
That’s not all, as the firm is committed to sustainability and circular fashion, there will also be a dedicated RE.UNIQLO Studio, where customers can repair, remake, and upcycle their favourite garments.
To celebrate the occasion, Uniqlo is hosting a few special events and promotions, with the first 100 customers that spend £60 on opening day and on Saturday, October 4 receiving a goody bag.

Customers who make any purchases can be entered into a prize draw to win a trip to Tokyo when they scan the app at the checkout, with the competition open until November 30.
The firm’s first store in the country, which opened on the iconic Princes Street in Edinburgh back in April 2024, spans across two floors and covers a spacious 1,400 square metres.
Alessandro Dudech, COO of Uniqlo UK said: “Uniqlo is proud to continue investing in the UK retail landscape, further strengthening our presence in Scotland with the opening in Glasgow on October 2 of our second location in Scotland.

“This location represents an exciting opportunity to engage more directly with local communities and welcome the many visitors to this vibrant city.
“We look forward to introducing even more customers to LifeWear everyday clothing designed with purpose, and guided by the Japanese values of quality, simplicity, and longevity.”
The move comes after Uniqlo opened its first ever store in Scotland on Edinburgh’s shopping hotspot Princes Street in April 2024, with the store spanning across two floors and covering a spacious 1,400 square metres.
Founded in 1984, Uniqlo has become popular for its vast range of durable casualwear and accessories, with its hugely popular crossbody bags becoming a sensation and the firm’s bestselling item.
Owned by leading Japanese retail holding company Fast Retailing Co., Ltd, the global apparel brand is now said to operate 2,541 stores worldwide across locations including Japan, Asia, Europe and North America.
It’s not the only exciting store opening for Glasgow’s high street, as confectionary giant Haribo is opening its first ever Scottish store in the busy Silverburn Shopping Centre at 10am on Tuesday, September 9.
In even more good news for the Scottish high street in general, luxury health and beauty chain Rituals has confirmed that it will be opening a new store in Stirling this September, with an additional opening in Edinburgh later on in October.
