Plans have been submitted for a new £100m ‘urban community’ in Leeds that will provide 504 new homes across six multi-storey towers.

The planning application for the Ollier Smurthwaite Architects-designed scheme was submitted by Euan Kellie Property Solutions on behalf of Forshaw Land and Property Group and Your Housing Group.

The New Foundry Square development will comprise one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes across six blocks of between five and 12 storeys in height. The scheme will also feature retail space, a residents lounge and private dining area, cinema, gym, a co-working office and a pool.

New Foundry Square will be built on a 3.7-acre vacant site to the west of Leeds city centre at the south of Kirkstall Road.

Lyndon Forshaw, managing director of Forshaw Group, said: “New Foundry Square represents a bold new chapter for Kirkstall Road and sets a new benchmark for development in Leeds. It’s not just about delivering homes – it’s about creating a vibrant, inclusive community for all generations. We’re incredibly encouraged by the support shown during the consultation and grateful for the thoughtful feedback from residents and local representatives.

“With first-class amenities, green spaces, and an intergenerational approach to living, we’re confident this will be a development the city can be proud of. We’re hopeful that the city plans panel will recognise the strength of local support and the benefits this scheme will bring when they consider our application.”

Ellie Philcox, director at Euan Kellie Property Solutions, added: “This scheme is one of the best examples of modern living, with functionality and facilities in abundance, appealing to a range of future residents. The development will form a key piece of the council’s longstanding aspirations for the regeneration of this part of Leeds, creating linkages to the river and canal to the south and neighbouring plots”

Matt Ollier, director at Ollier Smurthwaite, said: “The scheme’s design has been influenced by the sites rich industrial heritage and provides multi-generational living with new public garden and community square.”
