Delays on the M5 northbound are now easing following a multi-vehicle crash earlier this afternoon.

National Highways confirmed that all lanes remain open between J22 Burnham-on-Sea and J21 Weston-super-Mare, with traffic flows now “improving”.

They said: “There’s now delays of approximately one hour above normal journey times and seven miles of congestion on the approach.”

It comes after drivers were warned of up to three-hour delays and 13 miles of tailbacks shortly after the incident.

Motorists are still being advised to allow extra time for their journeys, but congestion is gradually starting to clear.
