Lucas Paqueta could miss West Ham’s final game before the transfer deadline, amid interest from Aston Villa.

That’s according to talkSPORT who claim Villa have ‘entered the race’ for the 28-year-old in the final days of the window.

They say the Hammers don’t want to sell the Brazilian but a deal could be struck for around £60million.

And with Graham Potter’s men due to play Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon, just before Villa face Crystal Palace, Paqueta could sit out at the City Ground despite being an ever present so far this term.

Indeed the former Lyon and AC Milan star has scored twice in the first three games so far this term, albeit in a misfiring West Ham side.

The report says Villa ‘look to be eyeing’ a move, after Tottenham were extensively linked earlier in the summer.

The Athletic claims Unai Emery is a big admirer of Paqueta and that he doesn’t want to play against the Reds while his future is up in the air.

However, The Athletic also warn that the financial side of the deal ‘is very tough to do’ given Villa’s obligations to comply with UEFA’s financial restrictions and size of the Hammers’ likely fee.

They say: ‘Villa have explored terms of a deal but unless a solution can be found, an agreement is unlikely’. Paqueta has two years remaining on his contract.
