A sealed bag of uncirculated Charles III £1 coins has been sold for a tidy profit by a seller in Malvern.

The seller is one of many taking to eBay to sell the ‘rare and unique’ coins, having sold a bag of 20 coins for £42.28.

The ‘British Bees’ coins were first introduced in 2023, with the Royal Mint having made more than 10 million coins with the design. The rare £1 coins have recently made headlines however, with just £170,000 having been released in 2025.

With just 170,000 Flora and Fauna £1 coins having been released into circulation, the Royal Mint has admitted that the 2025 version will be one of the rarest coins in the UK.

The news that just 170,000 coins were being released by the Royal Mint made national headlines last week. To put the figure into perspective, the 2023 Salmon 50p coin caused a frenzy amongst UK coin collectors with a 200,000 mintage figure. The Kew Gardens 50p, which is commonly referred to as the ‘holy grail’ of UK coin collecting, has a mintage figure of 210,000, although many have now been scooped up with the coin having been released in 2011.
