Daniel Farke will not have wanted it, Adam Underwood will probably have tried to avoid it. But Leeds United look as if they are going to be very active on the final day of the summer window.
There are a handful of players that still need to leave the club, and Daniel Farke has made it very clear that he wants one or two new attacking players before the deadline strikes. This year, it is an earlier 7pm.
Leeds have watched Bilal El Khannouss go to Stuttgart while Facundo Buonanotte is joining Chelsea on loan from Brighton. A return for Manor Solomon or a late move for Eduard Spertsyan remain as options.
Then, there are the players that need to go. Isaac Schmidt and Sam Greenwood have gone to Germany and Poland, while Patrick Bamford has been released. Illan Meslier and midfielder Darko Gyabi remain.

Bought from Man City for £5m in the summer of 2022 at the same time as Kalvin Phillips’ move to Man City, England U20 star Gyabi has struggled. He has spent the last 18 months on loan at Plymouth.
Back at Leeds after Plymouth’s relegation, Gyabi finds himself in the final year of his contract and far from Farke’s first-team plans. Earlier this week, it was reported that Hull were one of many clubs interested.
Now, the Hull Daily Mail report that Hull are indeed, trying to sign Gyabi on loan. However, there is a problem. Joe Gelhardt’s side need to let a player go before they can bring Gyabi in on deadline day.

Hull are not the only side interested in Gyabi, who impressed in glimpses for Plymouth. According to a report, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham would like to take Gyabi in on loan tomorrow.

There is also interest from Watford while French clubs Lorient and Metz, both in Ligue 1, would like to sign Gyabi before the deadline. Of course, Lorient have also held talks to sign their former man Meslier.
But it looks like Hull are leading the way and given the early success of Gelhardt’s season-long loan, Leeds will be tempted to send him there. Whether Hull can get a player first, remains to be seen.
