Manchester United are expecting to see more departures before the transfer deadline.

With no European football on offer and already eliminated from the Carabao Cup, game time is going to be at a premium for Manchester United’s fringe talents.

This makes it even tougher for United’s academy players to break through, and a number of exits are expected, following Ethan Williams’ loan to Falkirk.

Loan and permanent moves are on the agenda, and three youngsters are already being lined up to depart on deadline day.

Harry Amass made his first team debut under Ruben Amorim in 2024/25, and he even featured as a substitute in the memorable victory over Lyon.

However, since the arrival of Paraguayan talent Diego Leon, Amass has fallen down the pecking order, and he did not feature in the under-21 victory over City either.

This is because Amass is closing in on a loan move to Sheffield Wednesday, BBC Sport report.

It is a risky move because Sheffield Wednesday have been a club in crisis this summer, but there is a good opportunity with the Owls playing in the Championship.

Wednesday’s struggles also mean there is a smaller squad, boosting Amass’ chances of playing time.

Promising forward Ethan Ennis is on the verge of a move to Fleetwood Town, according to BBC Sport.

Ennis has begun this season in impressive form for the under-21s in league matches and pre-season.

This would be his second loan move, following a switch to Doncaster Rovers in the second half of last season.

Ennis played in pre-season under Erik ten Hag in 2024, but has not featured under new head coach Ruben Amorim.

Central midfielder Zach Baumann is expected to leave Manchester United on a permanent basis.

The BBC reports a deal has been agreed with Norwich City for Baumann to progress his career at the Championship side.

There will be no up-front fee in the exit, but there will be performance clauses where Manchester United can benefit financially in the future.

Baumann has trained with the United first team and played for the under-21s and under-18s, and is not leaving in pursuit of first team football.
