Sheffield United are in talks over a potential loan deal for Ipswich Town winger Chiedozie Ogbene, according to BBC journalist Andy Giddings on X.
Sheffield United are in negotiations over a possible swoop for the 28-year-old. SUFC have until the deadline at 7pm to complete any incoming or outgoing bits of business.

Ogbene, who is a Republic of Ireland international with 24 caps under his belt, has been on the books at Ipswich Town since joining them back in August 2024. He is under contract at Portman Road until June 2028.
In this latest update regarding his situation in Suffolk by reporter Giddings on X, he is in ‘discussions’ over a temporary switch to the Blades. Ruben Selles’ side were beaten 1-0 away at Middlesbrough over the weekend.
Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has hinted he may leave, as per the East Anglian Daily Times: “There’s a possibility that Chieo, and it’s only a possibility, might go on loan. He’s coming back from a really, really big injury and done terrific to get himself out there for us this year, but probably had to come into competitive games sooner than what would have been ideal.
“We feel and Chieo feels that a period now where he can build up his minutes on loan and really just focus on getting his body to the best condition and play really regularly for someone could be beneficial to get himself back up to full speed.”
Sheffield United eye Chiedozie Ogbene
Sheffield United could see Ogbene as someone to boost their attacking department. If he joined SUFC, he would give them more competition and depth up top.
Ipswich Town signed him last year after their promotion from the Championship. However, he has since struggled with injury issues and hasn’t played as much as he would have liked to with the Tractor Boys.

The Nigeria-born man started out in Ireland with spells at Cork City and Limerick before Brentford lured him over to England. He was loaned out by the Bees to Exeter City to get some experience.
Ogbene then had spells at Rotherham United and Luton Town before his move to his current club. He has made 255 appearances so far to date in his career and has scored 30 goals.
Will Sheffield United land Chiedozie Ogbene?
Sheffield United could do with some reinforcements, especially at the top end of the pitch. SUFC have been poor so far in this campaign and pressure is already mounting on ex-Southampton, Reading and Hull City man Selles.
Ogbene would be a shrewd addition by the Blades if they are able to bring him in from Ipswich Town. He needs minutes and the Tractor Boys can’t offer him that at the moment due to competition for places in his position.
Selles was picked by Sheffield United as their head coach back in June. The South Yorkshire outfit made the shock decision to part ways with Chris Wilder after losing to Sunderland in the play-off final.
