Crystal Palace are set to beat Leeds United in a deadline day transfer battle, but the player doesn’t want to move to Selhurst Park.

Leeds United look set to be active on deadline day. The transfer window shuts at 11pm on Monday night, and speaking after Leeds United drew 0-0 with Newcastle in their last outing, Daniel Farke said Leeds are working on new signings ahead of deadline day.

Specifically, Farke wants new attacking signings, whether that be a number 10, a winger or a striker remains to be seen, but Leeds certainly look to be in the market for attackers, and they look like they’re in need of new attackers too.

So far this season, Leeds have put four points on the board, but Farke’s side have only scored once in their opening three Premier League matches.

One name linked with a move to Elland Road in recent weeks is Getafe player Christantus Uche. Leeds United were thought to be weighing up a move for the Nigerian international, but reports ahead of deadline day revealed that Uche had agreed a move to Crystal Palace.

However, separate reports in Spain say that the 22-year-old is moving to Palace against his will. Spanish outlet Marca report that Uche is ‘willing to hold off on his signing or at least express his disagreement with the operation until the end’. Getafe are forced to sell due to financial difficulties, with Palace set to pay up to €20m (£17.3m) for the player.

Going into deadline day, it was reported that four players are active targets for Leeds United; they are Bilal El Khannouss, Dilane Bakwa, Eduard Spertsyan, and Manor Solomon. However, El Khannouss is now looking likely to join Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, whilst Fulham have been in talks to sign Bakwa from Strasbourg, with the player having announced that he’s leaving the club.

Meanwhile, Spertsyan has poured cold water on a deadline day move, hinting at a potential move during the January transfer window instead. Solomon, meanwhile, looks no closer to a return to Leeds United than he was before, although of the four he looks like the most probable deal.

And Uche is now set for Palace, albeit against his will, handing Farke and Leeds United another transfer blow on deadline day.
