When John checks on him, he’s alarmed to realise that Mack still remembers exactly what happened during their terrifying woodland showdown.
The truth over recent events soon becomes clear, as John reveals that he made the decision to spare Mack’s life. And as for that “murder” moment with the heavy rock? It turned out that he’d used it to break Mack’s ankle, rather than to kill him.
In tense scenes, Mack encourages John to open up over his various crimes.
John lists everything – from framing Ella Forster for messing with Chas Dingle’s medication, to Jacob Gallagher’s near-death experience at the GP surgery, and accidentally killing Nate Robinson before hiding his body.

As John tries to justify each dark deed, Mack puts on the performance of a lifetime by pretending to be on his side.
Mack gushes over how his best mate Aaron Dingle is lucky to have John as his husband. He then promises to stay quiet and live the rest of his life in Scotland, if John lets him go free.
Will John accept the offer? Fans can see the outcome of Mack’s shocking suggestion when the episode airs at 7.30pm on ITV1 tonight, or it’s streaming early now on ITVX and YouTube.
