Liverpool are seemingly handed a second deadline day transfer boost in their efforts to sign Marc Guehi as Crystal Palace allegedly turn their attention to a Chelsea defender.

Crystal Palace are reportedly considering signing a second Premier League defender on transfer deadline day in what is a major boost to Liverpool‘s pursuit of Marc Guehi.

On Sunday night after Palace had defeated Aston Villa, Palace head coach Oliver Glasner insisted that Guehi needed to stay at Selhurst Park if his Eagles side were to achieve success.

However, it appears increasingly likely that the England international that the England international will eventually finalise a transfer to Liverpool.

Earlier on Monday, a report emerged which suggested that Palace were attempting to sign Brighton & Hove Albion defender Igor Julio.

The Brazilian is a left-sided central defender and would theoretically be viewed as a straight alternative to Guehi on that side of Glasner’s back three.

Palace considering move for Chelsea defender

According to Sky Sports News, Palace also hold an interest in adding Chelsea defender Axel Disasi to their squad before the 7pm deadline.

Disasi is out of favour at Stamford Bridge having failed to impress Enzo Maresca during the first half of last season and not making the desired impact on loan at Aston Villa during the final months of 2024-25.

Bournemouth were heavily linked with the Frenchman earlier this month but a transfer to the Vitality Stadium has failed to come to fruition.

As a result, Palace are seemingly contemplating whether to propose a deal to Chelsea, it unclear whether they would want to sign the 27-year-old on a permanent or temporary basis.

Chelsea would preferably want a sale for a fee in the region of £25m, but Palace will have a second Premier League loan slot available even with the expected arrival of Igor Julio.

The two clubs have a strong working relationship having recently negotiated deals involving Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah and Ben Chilwell.

A recent report also claimed that Palace were keen on acquiring Josh Acheampong but Chelsea will reject any offers for the academy graduate.
