Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has suffered a significant blow when attempting to improve his attacking options in the final hours of the summer transfer window as Aston Villa have snubbed a loan bid for Elland Road target Emiliano Buendia, according to The Telegraph journalist John Percy.
The Whites have not been afraid to splash the cash since clinching the Championship title last term, with James Justin becoming their latest recruit when he sealed a £10million move from Leicester City last week, but there is a desire to secure additional reinforcements before today’s 7pm deadline.
Whites Miss Out on an Agreement for Buendia
Leeds have made a loan offer to sign Buendia from Aston Villa, according to respected reporter Percy, but they have been left frustrated as their Premier League counterparts have rejected the proposal and decided that he will not be given the opportunity to embark on a fresh challenge on deadline day.
Although the playmaker has been on his current employers’ books since sealing a £38million switch from Norwich City in June 2021, the Whites were hopeful of being able to strike a deal as he was given the green light to join Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen on a temporary basis last season.
But Aston Villa have found themselves in a strong negotiating position as Argentina international Buendia still has two years remaining on his contract, complicating matters for Leeds as they seek to improve their chances of staving off an immediate return to the Championship.
