Hull KR back rower Rhyse Martin has been handed a two-game suspension and will miss Sunday’s derby match against Hull FC. The forward has received a Grade D charge for head contact, an offence that carries with it 15 penalty points.

That puts Martin within the threshold for a two-game ban. He has also been fined, meaning his points for the charge will be halved. The player’s total disciplinary points for the season now stand at 16.

In addition to 12 points for the Grade D charge, Martin also received an additional three points because the head contact led to the opposition St Helens player, Morgan Knowles, leaving the field and failing a head injury assessment. He was sin-binned at the time.

Elsewhere, St Helens prop George Delaney has been suspended for this Friday’s big derby clash against Wigan Warriors. Delaney was sin-binned for a high shot on Hull KR forward Eribe Doro last week, with a ban now following.

The young front rower has a previous charge on his record, a Grade C Head Contact for a high-profile tackle on Wakefield Trinity winger Lachlan Walmsley earlier this year. And now with another Grade C charge, Delaney has enough points on his disciplinary record to mount a one-game ban.

The suspension will come as a big blow to the Saints, who are already missing Knowles due to head injury protocols.

Meanwhile, Leeds forward Joe Shorrocks is also banned after a dangerous contact on Hull FC prop Liam Watts. The nasty-looking tackle was placed on report at the time, with Shorrocks having a previous disciplinary record this season.

He served a one-match ban while a Salford Red Devils player for dangerous contact on Hull’s Aidan Sezer back in June and was also banned earlier this season for three games. He is banned now for two games – his third suspension of the year.

Finally, Huddersfield Giants back Taane Milne has been suspended. He is banned for one game after picking up a Grade A Head Contact charge.
