Halton County Radial Railway (HCRR) is proud to announce the launch of its 70th Anniversary Celebration book. This 212-page, hardcover book is filled with stories about the museum and its members from when it was established in 1954 to its anniversary celebration in 2024.
“It was a joy to work on this project,” said Caroline Rose, Editor & Project Lead of the Halton County Radial Railway 70th Anniversary Celebration book and long-time member. “It was a lot of work to source photos to accompany the stories, but it was well-worth it. I’m really pleased with the result. It is a great testament to how the museum began and where it is today. There are limited quantities available, so I highly recommend picking up a copy soon.”
The project took about two years to complete from start to finish. Rose worked with the archives department at the museum and reached out to HCRR members asking for photos and stories. Rose worked with designer, EDV Creative, from Guelph, Ontario to bring the book to life.
The book is $94.99 + tax and can be purchased in the Gift Shop at the museum or online at https://store112743960.company.site/products/book-celebrating-70-years.
Editor & Project Lead, Caroline Rose will be at the museum the following dates and times to sign copies and talk to visitors about the project.
- Saturday, September 13, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Saturday, October 11, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
About the HCRR
The Halton County Radial Railway (HCRR) is owned and operated by the Ontario Electric Railway Historical Association (OERHA), which was formed in 1954 by a group of transit enthusiasts who wanted to save Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) streetcar 1326 from being sent to the scrapyard.
Since the beginning, the vision of the HCRR was to inform, educate, and inspire the public about the electric railway history of Ontario and Canada.
Today, the museum displays and operates a variety of historic streetcars, radial cars and work cars. It also maintains a collection of photographs, memorabilia and archival materials.
The museum is a popular day trip for many residents in southern Ontario, as well as visitors from across Canada and around the world. It’s a unique museum to learn and enjoy Canadian transportation history.
