Daniel Farke has been thrown under the bus by the 49ers at Leeds.

Transfer deadline day is over, and Leeds have failed to add any new faces to their squad.

Leeds tried to get a deal over the line for Harry Wilson, though Fulham opted to pull out of the deal at the last minute, leaving the Whites empty-handed.

It’s hard to push too much blame on the 49ers for that deal falling through, though they warrant a remarkable amount of criticism for the failures this summer.

Ten new arrivals have checked in at Elland Road, though very few of them have actually raised the ceiling of the squad at Elland Road.

Anton Stach is a big signing for Leeds (physically and metaphorically), though questions will emerge as to how impressive their remaining business actually is.

Leeds’ summer business

Farke made it clear after Leeds’ 0-0 draw with Newcastle he wanted more arrivals to bolster his squad, and the 49ers have failed dramatically to deliver on that.

To have left it until the final hours of the window to accelerate their transfer hunt is nothing short of criminal, and after missing out on many, many targets throughout the summer, questions have to be asked about the way they went about it.

Farke is already under some pressure at Leeds, and the 49ers have failed to back him with the tools needed to subdue those concerns.

If the German opts to walk out of Elland Road, every single finger will be pointed at the way they have recruited this summer.

Optimism levels could not be lower right now, and with two weeks of international football ahead, that isn’t going to change anytime soon.

If Farke stays, he needs to find a way to pick the morale off the floor and get his Leeds squad playing at full capacity.

The main concern will be goals, given the fact that the Whites have notched on just one occasion in their opening three games, and that was from the penalty spot.

A depressing way to end what should have been an exciting summer.
