Wrexham are closing in on another defensive addition as Phil Parkinson brings his summer transfer window to an end.

Wrexham could end deadline day with three more signings on board.

Ben Sheaf joined Wrexham on deadline day, completing a £6.5million move from Coventry City.

Issa Kabore is poised to join Wrexham from Manchester City, with a loan deal for the Burkina Faso international now imminent.

Another centre-back appears to be coming in as well, with Wrexham pushing to sign Dominic Hyam from Blackburn Rovers.

Hyam would be Wrexham’s third centre-back signing of the window, following on from Conor Coady and Callum Doyle.

Other names have been in the mix alongside Hyam.

Wrexham wanted Bristol City’s Zak Vyner, but failed with multiple bids for the defender ahead of deadline day.

Rumours on Sunday also suggested that Wrexham still held an interest in Jack Robinson from Sheffield United.

Wrexham were interested in Robinson earlier in the window, though a deal appeared to fade away as Doyle arrived.

Robinson, who is out of contract in 2026, appeared to still be on the radar, but he may instead join Birmingham City.

Reporter Pete O’Rourke claims that Birmingham City are now attempting to rush through a late deal for Robinson.

The Blues are already targeting Will Smallbone, another player on Wrexham’s wish list, but are now looking to land Robinson as well.

The Sheffield United captain can play at centre-back or left-back and can offer fine versatility, alongside Championship experience, in the heart of the Birmingham back line.

Time is ticking, though, and with the deadline already passed, Birmingham must have already submitted documents to the EFL ahead of a potential move.

Conor Coady misses out on Jack Robinson reunion

One man who would have been delighted to see Robinson arrive at Wrexham is Conor Coady.

Coady and Robinson came up in the Liverpool youth ranks together and were even England youth teammates as well.

The pair joined forces again at Huddersfield Town during the 2014-15 season, and could have been key men in Parkinson’s back three.

Instead, Robinson could end up joining Birmingham to play a part in their journey alongside Tom Brady, rather than joining the Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds project at Wrexham.
