Leeds United‘s late move for Fulham star Harry Wilson is off, according to reports – with the Cottagers having a ‘change of heart’ at the final moments of the transfer window, keeping their wing wizard in the capital city.
Fulham are pressing on with a £22million deal for Chelsea starlet Tyrique George for their right-wing, which would have pushed Wilson further down the pecking order at Craven Cottage once he joined – and that had opened up the door for Leeds to complete a deal for the former Bournemouth loanee in the final few hours of the window.
Smyth: Leeds Move for Wilson ‘Collapses’ After Fulham U-Turn
However, the report by Yorkshire Post journalist Graham Smyth states that Leeds’ deal for Wilson has not been completed, leaving them without the Welshman despite a deal being in the works.
Fulham are believed to have had a change of heart at the last moment, which scuppered any chance of a deal sheet being submitted for a move for the former Liverpool man.
As a result, there will be no more activity at Elland Road in the transfer window, and Daniel Farke must persist with the squad that he has at present until the January transfer window.
Leeds had looked to complete late deals for Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss and Brighton winger Facundo Buonanotte respectively in the past week – though the former ended up joining Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart on a loan-with-obligation deal priced at £26million, before they were hijacked by Chelsea for Buonanotte at the last moment.
It’s a killer blow for Farke, who would have liked attacking recruits to come in to his side to help their chances of survival – and whether that could prove fatal in their attempts to stay up remains to be seen.
