Mr Corbyn, the former leader of the Labour Party, was there as he continues to build support for Your Party, which he has launched with fellow former Labour MP Zarah Sultana.
It was clear that Mr Corbyn was beloved among the crowd, but why exactly did people turn up to the event, and what did they make of what they heard?

Lyn Renn was one of many people who travelled from outside Oldham to attend the event. Coming from Glossop in Derbyshire, she was desperate to attend despite the event being sold out and managed to grab a ticket to see the man who she clearly revered.
“Since I first heard Jeremy speak years ago, I just thought this man is speaking to the people. And so we started to follow Jeremy and we went to see him at The Lowry and everything he said spoke to us and our beliefs,” the 61-year-old said.
“He’s such a humanist and such a socialist that we said ‘Well this is a real person, not the usual politician’, so we were filled with hope.”

For others who attended, listening to what Mr Corbyn had to say was about finding out what Your Party had to offer.
Faris, who came from nearby Rochdale, said he headed down to Oldham “to see if there is hope”.
The 30-year-old said: “With Jeremy Corbyn, because he’s been an MP for so long, I already know where he stands on a lot of issues and so more than anything it’s just about getting people behind it and understanding how the party will be run.”

He said understanding Mr Corbyn’s stances is important to him as he did not know where to stand with former Rochdale MP George Galloway and he feels Labour has moved more to the right wing.
This sentiment was the same reason Chris Eaton decided to head down.
The 36-year-old made the journey from Stockport to hear what Mr Corbyn had to say after feeling that the Labour Party no longer represented his beliefs.

He said: “I’m traditionally a Labour supporter, so I came down with an open mind. I wanted to see what Jeremy offered basically.
“Clearly, what Labour are doing now isn’t ‘Labour’ as such, it’s Tory-lite, so I came down to hear him out, to see if the view for Your Party aligned with what I believe politically.”
When asked if he did find what Mr Corbyn said to align with his beliefs, Mr Eaton said it did.

“I thought he put forward a lot of very good points, a lot more inclusiveness and being there for people rather than the alternate options which is hate and division really,” Mr Eaton said.
He wasn’t the only person to come away with a strong impression made on them.
Sixteen-year-old Faris said: “I’ve only recently gotten in to politics, but I think I’m really struck by just how this party really does seem to acknowledge that there are existing parties who rely heavily on big businesses and support from them, whereas this party seems to be very public and very down to earth in terms of its support mainly coming from working class individuals and I think that’s really inspiring.”

When asked if he could see himself signing up to join Your Party as a member and supporting them in the future, Mr Eaton said: “Off the back of that, absolutely. I think with the current political system, it’s got to be a bit more tactical but I think if the right candidate was put up and things continued to move in this way, I could see myself supporting them.”
The hundreds of people who attended Mr Corbyn’s event were clearly big fans of the man and wanted to see and hear him speak first hand about what he believes in and what Your Party will stand for.
Many people, like Ms Renn, are superfans of the veteran MP. She said she admired how he is a voice for young people as well as being a voice for peace and justice, saying Mr Corbyn inspired her to become a union representative.
Due to his stances on issues such as the situation in Gaza, supporting working class people and other topics, parties in Oldham will be worried about losing votes to Your Party in the future.
