The Home Secretary has failed to confirm that the illegal migrants will be sent back to France this month as part of the so-called “one in, one out” deal.

Yvette Cooper told the House of Commons the first set of illegal migrants are “expected” to be returned to France this month, however on Tuesday she refused to guarantee the asylum seekers will happen in September.

Cooper was asked by Sky News if she will guarantee the migrants will be sent back to France this month, she said the government will “continue to work” with Paris.

She was asked again for a guarantee, Cooper told Sky News, “We expect the first returns to take place this month.

“But I’ve always said from the very beginning on this, it’s a pilot scheme and it needs to build up over time.”

The Reform UK deputy leader Richard Tice said that Coopers plans for the asylum system is “just more waffle.”

Tice said that the Home Secretary’s plans for the asylum system will “make no difference whatsoever.”

Tice told Sky News, “Her measures announced yesterday is just more waffle and words. It’ll make no difference whatsoever.”

He was asked about Reform’s deportation proposals, Tice said that everyone who is in the UK illegally must be deported, he continued, “The overall principle is that if you’re here illegally, you can’t expect to stay here forever.

“We’re saying the first phase of deportations should be focusing on men primarily.

“There’s many men of young age, in their 20s, and that’s where we would start and go through the process.

“We’ve said, ‘look, it’s going to take a parliamentary term to remove some 600,000 people’. But anybody who is here illegally should not expect to be allowed to stay here forever.”

The Reform MP said that he will “deal with all those cases” which will take five years to deport all the men who are living here illegally.

Childre of the illegal immigrants who were not born in the UK will also be deported, Tice added, “The role of the British government is to look after British citizens – we’re absolutely clear on that.”

He said, “The British people are sick and tired of this sort of gaming of the system by people who’ve come here illegally, whether they’re economic migrants or whatever, and we’re not going to tolerate it.”
