Here is Great Western Railway’s update in full:
“Due to a fault with the signalling system at Twyford fewer trains are able to run. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
“Train services between London Paddington and Reading may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
“Due to a significant signalling fault in the Twyford area, trains are unable to operate on the Great Western Mainline.
“Network Rail teams are on site at Thames Valley Signalling Centre and at Reading, working to resolve the issue.
“We are advising customers to avoid travelling where possible.
“Customers with tickets dated 21.04.25 who wish to travel tomorrow may do so, due to the extended nature of the disruption today.
“Ticket acceptance is in place with the following operators:
“Cross Country – any reasonable route “Elizabeth Line – London Paddington to Reading, once services resume “London Underground – London Paddington to London Marylebone and London Victoria
“South Western Railway ticket acceptance is now revoked, due their operations being severely affected by emergency services dealing with an incident on the line. “Chiltern Railways ticket acceptance is now revoked.
“During this disruption if you wish to use local buses as an alternative means of transport and the local bus is not accepting GWR tickets please purchase a ticket on the bus, keep it and send it, together with your train ticket, to us to claim for a refund.”
