A planning application by Screwfix to move into the Guildhall building at 59 Queen Street was accepted.
Council bosses agreed that the request to transform the unit inside and out was appropriate and gave the company three years to begin the work.

We previously reported that the B-listed site in the city centre was previously occupied by Shuropody, a shoe and podiatry retailer.
It is currently empty and Screwfix stated in documents that “special regard must be given to the importance of preserving and enhancing the building, its setting and any features of special architectural or historic interest”.
