The storm cloud standing over Prince Andrew honestly does not look ready to disperse anytime soon. Just when you think that everything has calmed down so that the disgraced royal can begin to move on, a new side of the story emerges and it feels as if we never moved on.
Truly, I am sure he would be getting properly frustrated of it by now, but what can one do about such things?
What Royal Experts Have Said About Prince Andrew’s Image Restoration
If there’s ever a hopeless case in this world, royal experts and pr analysts will tell you it is the mission to revive Prince Andrew’s public image.
The dent that Virginia Giuffre, now late, has put on his character is irreversible and sadly not one that is so easily cleaned off.
Referencing the shot of Andrew with his arm around a smiling Giuffre, PR specialist Mark Borkowski said: “That continual shot of Giselle Maxwell and him in that flat with his arm around her – it will haunt him forever.”
The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show editor Matt Wilkinson shared a similar view to Mark Borkowski, plainly calling the Duke the “toxic spare.” “What do you do when you are bred to serve? The mere glimpse of him is a story,” he added.
Asked whether Andrew could work some charity things behind-the-scenes, Wilkinson affirmed, explaining, “I think that he possibly could, in the background maybe he is, give some advice, you know, help people – use whatever influence he has. And he has a powerful network outside his country, particularly in the Middle East. So I think there are stuff he could do, but perhaps that he can’t go public on it. I think it is tough for his brand, but I think that there is an opportunity.”
Journalist Katie Nicholl, speaking to Newsnight interview, also did not believe that rehabilitating Andrew’s image is a possibility. “I just think that Andrew is, as you say, so toxic. I don’t think there is any hope of a rehabilitation for him.”
This is coming as Andrew is likely to be pelted with a new brand of missiles now that it’s been confirmed that a Virginia Giuffre memoir is coming. Andrew’s principal accuser, Giuffre, died a few months back from suicide, though if you asked the father, he’ll have a different story to tell.
